Revverse by The Bunch at Snowpark Zermatt

Reviboys at it again

The sun couldn’t leave them alone.
The mountains surrounded them with joyful reflections of this burning globe in the sky above.
They entered the days with layers of sunscreen thick as the layers of snow.
The sunscreen got particularly smushed on the edges of their widening smiles.

Their smiles never stopped.

They reversed themselves coming into Snowpark Zermatt and did the same thing coming out.

They entered the Revverse

So should you

About Snowpark Zermatt

Zermatt is a famed mountaineering and ski resort of the Swiss Alps and they have taken them time to put together an excellent snowpark that is fun for all levels of skiers. There are jibs, rails, boxes, tables, and kickers suited for every taste at Zermatt’s Gravity Park. The snow park and halfpipe are open nearly the whole year and suitable for all levels of riders. The park crew is one of the best in Europe and the views of the Matterhorn are mind blowing. Enhancing your experience is the fact that there are no cars here. This creates a welcoming atmosphere with fresh, crisp air allowing you to feel a part of the village. It truly draws you in, with both visitors and locals moving about on foot. Zermatt has been called the ‘Mountain Mecca’ thanks to it’s 29 mountains soaring over 13,100 feet. It is home to nine of Europe’s ten highest mountains. It is also home to the highest ski lift in Europe and the largest summer skiing area in the Alps. If your looking for lodging, Interhome will get you set up in style.

Rew Fonk was filmed by The Bunch in Lappland, Sweden. Skiers looking for adventure in the Arctic Circle can find:

  • Riksgränsen. 200km north of the Arctic Circle and home to the grand finale of the Scandinavian Freeride Championships. A great area for backcountry skiing and close to the border with Norway. Riksgränsen is also known for its heli-skiing.
  • Björkliden. A family-friendly resort with groomed, above treeline skiing and no waiting in line back at the lift. Accessible from the same train that runs to Riksgränsen.
  • Dundret. Also accessible by rail, Dundret offers a long skiing season (October – May) and a variety of terrain. Hook up with a local and beg for a tour of the backcountry.
  • Storklinten. Another great family-friendly resort which is also close to the coast for other great sight-seeing. All runs end up back at the center of the resort.

The Bunch Finito

Our friends at The Bunch recently released the third installment of their movie series, Finito.  We are proud to have supported the guys along their journey last season as they worked really hard to make this all come together.  Watch Revisionairies Tobias Sedlacek, Leo Bjorklund, Douglas Kallsbo, Erik Pousette, Sakarias Majander, and Jen’s Nilson in this instant classic ski film.  The Bunch Finito was put together over the course of 14 months, while traveling Sweden, Norway, France, Russia, and North America. To read more about The Bunch Finito, check out the following articles below.

The Bunch Finito Media Coverage:

The Bunch’s skiers are totally out of this world. They move in a world of art and of weirdness, a world of freedom without compromises, without any desire to join the “normal” one or to water down their own to make it accessible to us. -Downdays

Known for their creativity, positive vibes, and commitment to the crew, the collective shot footage in Sweden, Norway, Russia, France, and the U.S. for the free, feature-length film. Whether hitting rails in a grimy urban setting or hitting natural features in stunning, high-alpine settings, The Bunch can find their flow just about anywhere. And though they take their filming and editing seriously, they certainly haven’t forgotten what it’s all about—evident in goofy group shots, wild editing choices, and general shenaniganizing. -Powder Magazine

Fully Legal

A lot goes on in a typical day besides skiing. Even if you are an all-star, and ski first chair to last chair, skiing only can occupy about a third of your day (at least that’s how much it is at Keystone where the majority of the Fully Legal video was filmed). The other two thirds of our days as skiers are consumed by sleep and consumption of varying forms.

During our time in Colorado we stayed in Frisco. Anywhere from ten to 15 of us crammed into a two-bedroom condo that had 5 beds, claimed to sleep 7 and if you were inventive it could handle 10. This left a few bodies on the floor from time to time and myself outside on the deck in a pair of sleeping bags.

Evenings were filled with family dinners that took hours to prepare due to the size of the kitchen. More than one chef was too many for that space, but we made it work and we managed to eat most nights. Somewhere in this timeframe a groggy exclamation of “Poyben?!” would surface. This was our quasi-swedish-english way of asking if we should watch another Harry Potter movie. If enough residents agreed we would pick up where we left off, if not then we defaulted to South Park or The Office until we all passed out.

Mornings were slow. Really slow. Jens would be up at 6AM to continue editing Finito, but otherwise no one else had a schedule to worry about. Breakfast was optional. Skiing was considered but usually delayed by the drying of mittens and charging of batteries. Somehow we would pull it together, organize a dozen or so people and load up a few vehicles to take off towards the mountain. This video, Fully Legal, is about what happened next.

Fresh Out The Bunch

Fresh Out The Bunch is an early-season edit of Mike King and friends from The Bunch. The location is Loveland, Colorado and the goal was to shred the early season rails.

About Mike King:

Mike King has been sending it hard since his days growing up ski racing in Northern Michigan. Lately he’s been gallivanting around out west, creating edits. He also has a habit of posting up on Facebook on an irritatingly frequent basis of all of the fun he is having.

About The Bunch:

The Bunch is a, well, a bunch of boys from Sweden who grew up together mobbing around the streets. They’ve been cranking out some of the most fresh (see what we did there?) edits for a few years now. Fresh Out The Bunch is one of their latest projects. The Bunch includes Revisionaries Tobias Sedlacek (“Toyben”), Leo Björklund (“Lee B”), Sakarias Majander, Douglas Källsbo, Erik Pousette, and Jens Nilsson.

Who We Are – About Revision Skis by Freeskier Magazine

Who We Are - About Revision Skis by Freeskier Magazine

We recently had a chance to speak with Tess Weaver Strokes at Freeskier Magazine about who we are, our philosophy, product line, and industry-leading warranty program. After getting to know our team and products, Tess wrote an article for Freeskier, titled “Revision Skis: A jibber’s delight”. Here is a brief excerpt from the article:

Since launching its two-model line on August 1, 2014, Revision Skis, a company of four based in Colorado and Michigan, already boasts a FREESKIER Editors’ Pick: The Subtraction, a 116 mm powder ski that scored a 10 out of 10 in the category of “playfulness,” which, says Wanrooy, is a perfect fit for Revision’s customer base.

“Our powder skis are developed for progressive skiers who are pushing the boundaries of powder skiing via butters, skiing switch, and jibbing natural features.”

For its sophomore line, Revision added two models, raised the tip height on the Talismans, Revision’s versatile ski for skiers who flex, bounce and press their way down, and upgraded the bases and edges of the entire line to increase durability. That was based on feedback from customers, guides and clients at Fernie Wilderness Adventures (a cat-skiing operation in Fernie, BC where Revision tests its powder skis) and from Revision’s core team of athletes.

About Klappen

Kimbo Sessions Klappen Sweden

Klappen, home to the Kimbo Sessions, is approximately 390 miles from Sweden’s capital Stockholm and located in the region of Vaesterbotten. Vaesterbotten’s capital city of Umea is around 78 miles away from Klappen. Klappen is located in Salen, which is one of the biggest ski areas in Sweden. The Salen ski resort is made up of the following ski areas: Stoten, Hundfjallet, Tandadalen, Hogfjallet, Lindvallen, and Klappen. The elevation at the summit is 2,181 feet and base is at an elevation of 1,148 feet.  This makes for a vertical drop of 1,0033 feet at Klappen. There are 35 ski runs, with the longest spanning 2 miles. Nearly half of the runs are beginner ski runs, with the remaining ski runs being split up by intermediate, advanced, and expert.  For park skiers, there are 4 terrain parks to choose from. Klappen has been open for over 30 years and the ski season usually runs from approximately December through April.

Klappen ski resort has purchased a state of the art gondola, which is the ski resort’s largest investment in it’s history. The opening ceremony will be held in December 2016. The gondola cars will start at the welcome center, with an intermediate station at Tranantorget, and a final station at the top of the mountain. Each gondola can accommodate ten guests comfortably and features heated seats to keep skiers warm on cold days.

Klappen is also a popular recreation destination in the summertime.  Popular activities include hiking, canoeing, fishing, golfing, and horseback riding. Wildlife viewing with an experienced guide is also a popular activity and a great way to discover the local flora, fauna, elk, beavers, and more. The Vasterdalalven river runs through the region and is home to excellent salmon, char, and rainbow trout fishing.

Revision Skis Company Callout

We recently had a chance to talk with David Malacrida from Downdays about how we got started and where we are going.  Here is a brief excerpt from the Revision Skis Company Callout article:

Revision’s give-and-take with its team riders has already borne fruit with several initiatives the company is undertaking this season. Foremost among them is a focus on sustainability “We are auditing our supply chain process in order to minimize our environmental impact,” Wanrooy says. “Our skis for fall 2015 will all be carbon neutral as we begin a long-term process of making sure we are responsible to the earth.”

Another much-hyped development is Revision’s new return & replace policy, which includes damage caused by sliding rails. “We will guarantee that we will replace any skis that are rendered unrideable because of rail damage during the one-year warranty period,” says the company.

Finally, Revision is constantly seeking to refine the durability of its products, so you’ll hopefully never need to take advantage of the replacement clause. “For this fall, we’ll be upgrading the bases and edges on all of our skis to a thicker version in order to improve durability,” says Wanrooy.
